Get to know Dr. Long
Dr. Brittany Long is a naturopathic physician. Dr. Long graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine and focused primarily on pain management, sports medicine, nutrition, exercise and Naturopathic Manipulation Techniques. Post-NUNM she completed two years in residency so as to better hone her skills and learn from multiple providers so as to best serve her patients. She utilizes preventative and restorative medicine to help patients with weight management, hormone balancing, gastrointestinal complaints, sleep disturbances, diabetes, high blood pressure, skin conditions and sports medicine related issues such as rehabilitation, injury prevention, strengthening and personalized nutrition and exercise plans.
Dr. Long approaches each interaction with an open mind and open ears to best understand where each individual is at on their journey towards their unique health goals. Dr. Long works with her patients to help them achieve these goals through individualized herbal therapy, nutrition, physical manipulation, Pelvic Floor Therapy, neural therapy, exercise plans, hydrotherapy and pharmacotherapy when appropriate. Dr. Long has a special interest in helping all levels of athletes achieve the performance goals they have or would like to explore. This special interest and education in athletic-related health stems from 15 plus years of experience in sports and sports-related medicine. Dr. Long was a multi-sport athlete in high school and competed competitively in basketball, swimming, cross-country running, track and field, volleyball, and Nordic cross-country skiing. After high school Dr. Long competed at the Division 1 level of collegiate athletics in cross-country and track and field, specializing in the 3000-meter steeplechase race.

As an active member of the local running community, Dr. Long worked throughout medical school to foster her knowledge of sports medicine by working with local runners at Portland Running Company and coaching high school cross-country and track and field. She is a student of the sport, always, and qualified and competed in the 2018 Boston Marathon, qualified multiple times for the New York Marathon and was top 10 in her age group for the 2014 Portland Marathon. When she’s not running, working or coaching, Dr. Long will often be found in her kitchen experimenting with recipes, running around after her toddler or enjoying some time with friends and family.
