Naturopathic medicine is a form of medicine which focuses on preventative care rather than reactive care so that you can live freely from disease and live your life exactly as you want to! Naturopathic medicine also works to utilize and encourage the body's own natural ability to heal itself from disease. Naturopathic medicine specifically focuses on what we consider cornerstones of health including diet, elimination, mental health, physical health and spiritual health. Naturopathic doctors also specifically work with their patients through addressing not only the symptoms they may be presenting with, but also with them as an individual in order to optimize their health.
Therapies which are included under naturopathic medicine include specified and individualized dietary interventions, herbal therapy, targeted supplemental therapy, IV therapy, minor surgery, physical manipulation, pharmacological interventions and referrals to the appropriate specialists. As with all medicine, each of these interventions are weighed heavily in the light of patient compliance, cost and most importantly, the applicability of each therapy to each individual's health picture.
